President Alioum Sidi of the Cameroon Referees Association paid a solidarity visit to injured Oumar Moctar and Chenwi Celestine who suffered varied injuries from the attacks by fans during last Wednesday’s MTN Elite 2 championship game pitting Lausanne of Yaounde against Rangers of Bafut.
Fans which the Cameroon football federation (FECAFOOT) identified this Thursday, April 27 as Lausanne fans battered both men after the game played on Thursday at the Olembe Annex stadium.
Reports earlier today suggested both match officials needed intensive care, but there has been assurance all will be well.
“Our injured colleagues are fine for the moment. We are waiting for CNPS and other outlets following the situation,” Alioum said after the visit.

The incident has attracted widespread condemnation from football stakeholders given that such barbarism has no place in today’s football.
Its not the first time Oumar has been involved in a controversial game this season. Earlier on, he officiated the Dynamo versus Foncha Street FC game which attracted huge criticism of his performance after he chalked off a valid goal scored by Foncha Street FC and awarded a debatable penalty to Dynamo FC.
