Caïman Filles of Douala have claimed a hard-earned 2-0 victory against defending champions Awa Filles, a second win that further boosts their Guinness Super League survival hopes.
Paola headed home the opener left in the 60th minute of Monday’s game at the Japoma Annex stadium and minutes later Brenda Ebobise nodded in Merveille Youonvop from the penalty spot to make it 2-0.
Claude Tchadeu, Ruphine Beyina and co tried to drag the visitors back into the contest Caïman held on and protected their run of getting points off Awa in every meeting in the past four years.
The result at the end allowed Caiman to move above Awa, and five points clear of the danger zone in which all three teams – Ngadeu and Awa – lost in this round of matches.
Midfielder Dantacke Dorantine couldn’t hold back her emotions about the match day 12 result.
“We got three very important three points although it was very stressful in the end. We are delighted to have won this difficult game. Dorantine said in an interview with kick442.com.
“I hope we are on the right track and we must focus again 100 per cent against Eclair.”
Caïman face title chasing in their next outing this Saturday in Yaounde. Dorantine and mates could further strengthen their survival chance with another victory though it will be a very tough game.
