The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has significantly increased the prize money for the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League, raising the total pool to USD 2,350,000.
The tournament will be held in Morocco from November 9 to 23, featuring eight clubs divided into two groups of four. Each team will earn a minimum of USD 150,000, with the champions receiving USD 600,000 and the runners-up taking home USD 400,000.
The tournament format includes a round-robin group stage where teams earn three points for a win and one point for a draw. The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stage, leading to the final match.
Defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns from South Africa are among the favorites, along with AS FAR (Morocco) and Edo Queens (Nigeria), who have shown strong performances in regional qualifiers.
This prize money boost is expected to enhance women’s football across Africa by providing clubs with resources to invest in training facilities, youth academies, and player development programs.
By increasing financial incentives, CAF aims to elevate the profile of women’s football on the continent and inspire future generations of female athletes.
