Brice Ambina opens Vålerenga account in 4-2 Oslo derby win

Brice Ambina scored his first goal for Vålerenga this Saturday as they edge Lyn 4-2 in an exciting showdown counting for match day 20 of the Norwegian Eliteserien Championship.

The game at the Intility Arena turned out to be a six-goal thriller as both sides gave the fans a good return on their investment.

Brice Ambina, Carl Lange, Muamer Brajanac and Jones El-Abdellaoui scored for Vålerenga while a Christian Dahle Borchgrevink’s own goal and a strike from Mathias Johansen completed the scorers on the day.

What ended up being an easy win started off as a complicated game when Dahle put the ball pass his own keeper just three minutes into the contest.

Ambina even matters after 22 minutes before Lange put Vålerenga ahead with another goal two minutes later.

However, the Vålerenga advantage didn’t last as Johaneson scored a 28th minute equaliser for Lyn, taking advantage of a defensive disorganization from the Vålerenga backline.

With the game delicately poised, it needed a better second segment from either sides to be able to score and preserve the lead.

Brajanac and El-Abdellaoui scored in the second segment and Vålerenga preserved the two-goal advantage this time around to secure maximum points and the bragging rights from the Oslo derby against the stubborn visitors.

This latest win puts the club comfortably at the top of the table in the championship, ten points clear off second-placed, Bryne FK though the leaders have played an game.

Vålerenga will be back in action on September 1, against Sandnes Ulf, who are currently occupies the bottom spot on the log.
