In 2021, Frank Onyeka made the leap from Danish side FC Midtjylland to Brentford.

Onyeka’s defensive qualities have been crucial for Brentford which has seen him play 57 games.

During the Champions League last season, he stood out as one of the best midfield players. His average of six combined tackles and interceptions per game showcased his tenacity and ability to disrupt opponents’ play.

Coach Thomas Frank had praised his dynamism and emphasized his role as an “eight” in Brentford’s system—covering ground from box to box.

Despite this historic achievement, Onyeka’s cup dreams remained unfulfilled. The host nation, Cote D’Ivoire, emerged victorious with a 2-1 scoreline.
