Caiman Filles of Douala have resumed the second segment of the Guinness Super League Championship as a better side than they were during the first half of the season.
Tatiana Eboumbou’s girls beat defending champions Awa Filles 2-0 in match day 12 of the championship, and nearly created a sensation as they took the lead through Nicaise Ngon on Sunday against aspiring champions Eclair of Sa’a on Sunday at the FECAFOOT Technical Center in Odza.
Despite the 2-1 defeat to the good Eclair side in Yaounde, Caiman showed newfound hunger, so much such that in the end reporters were curious and quizzed star player Brenda Ebobisse about what could be the secret behind the ‘new Caïman’.
“What has happened has happened, we couldn’t protect the lead. So far we have won one game and lost the other,” Ebobisse began has post-match commentaries.
“We are a new Caïman this second round. The words of the coach (Tatiana Eboumbou) and the president (Joseph Ikambi) have changed and that’s the point of difference.”
“The objective is to work more, win games and avoid relegation from the championship,” Ebobisse told reporters after the game.
Caiman currently occupies the ninth spot after 12 games in the 12-clubs clubs championship.
The girls from Douala have picked up nine points from a possible 36, making it five points away from Ngadeu FFA who are in the first relegation position.
Ebobisse’s is one of the lead forwards at her club this season and her form will be telling for the rest of the season.
