Cameroon’s Awa Filles FC will miss this year’s CAF Women’s Champions League (CAFWCL) playoffs scheduled this September 8-14 in Equatorial Guinea due to logistics reasons.
Information on the kick442.com editorial desk have it that the The 2022 Cameroon Women’s League champions have failed to traveled to Equatorial Guinea due to lack of funds after their request for support from the country’s football federation was ignored.
Sources close to the Guinness Super League giants have it that they had notified officials of the Cameroon football federation (FECAFOOT) through its Secretary General, Blaise Djounang weeks ago but didn’t receive a feedback until Tuesday.
Unfortunately, Tuesday’s response to the request for help was unfavorable as the SG said he couldn’t treat the file because he was away on leave.
These difficulties means Awa Filles who finished runners-up up to TP Mazembe Ladies in the competition last season will miss it this time around. They become the second Cameroon team to miss a zonal tournament after the U-20 boys team failed to turn for their tournament in DR Congo in July.
DR Congo’s TP Mazembe Ladies, Equatorial Guinea’s Hurricanes Ladies and Epah Ngamba Ladies of Congo Republic will compete to determine UNIFFAC’s representative in the finals later this year in Côte D’Ivoire.
Hurricane host TP Mazembe this Friday at 3pm at the Estadio Nacional de Malabo.
