Intermediate Lions of Cameroon coach Alioum Saidou has called up PWD of Bamenda half-back Agbor Bessem Bogard for a two-week training camp in preparations for their 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers games against to be determined opponents.

The 18-year-old former ISOHSA of Limbe and ANAFOOT Southwest product marveled all and sundry during his first season at PWD of Bamenda with many clamoring for his inclusion in the national team.

Bogard joined PWD on the heels of great season at ISOHSA. He made his debut for PWD away to Elgeco plus in the preliminaries of the CAF Confederation Cup in a 1-1 draw in Antananarivo last September and stayed in the team.

He has gone on to make 17 appearances in all competitions this season for the Abakwa Boys as they finished the Elite One championship season on the fourth spot.

The Agbor defender generational wealth

Agbor Bogard is the third generation of successful center-backs in their lineage. His father Agbor Ernest Ako played for a number of club including PWD of Bamenda in the 90s. His father (Bogard’s grandfather) was a key player in the CDC Victoria (present day Tiko United FC) side that reach the final of the cup of Cameroon twice in a row.

Bogard club colleague Leonel Ateba Christian and the others will enter camp on Sunday and hope to be in the final squad for the qualifiers as the 2021 semi-finalist hope to reach the tournament and right the wrongs of CHAN 2023.

Players involved in the Elite One title play-offs have been left out of the squad.
