- The 2024 National Interpools will start on August 1
- So far only eight regions have had their champions for the ten regions competition
- The center region will host the competition with matches to be played in Mbankomo and Odza but the region is yet to produce it’s representative
Atlantic of Kribi have dispatched Dja Sports of Meyomesala by 3-0 in the final of the South Regional championship to become the 2024 champions of the South Regional championship of FECAFOOT and the seventh club to qualify for the national interpools for this season scheduled for next month in Yaoundé.
The emphatic win meant they replace Olympique Biwong Bane as South Region’s flag bearers in the ten-club national interpools, and will go into Pool B of the tournament.
Atlantic of Kribi enjoyed an unforgettable season at Regional level but now buckle up to test their might against fancied outfits from other regions like Buea United FC, Volcan of Noun, Girondins FC of Ngaoundere and Krimi FC of Garoua in an exciting Pool B of the competition.
Krimi also obtained their qualification on Monday after outclassing all other clubs from the North Region to reach consecutive interpools. They will hope to right the wrongs of last season at the Interpools.
So far the champions of the Volcan of the West Region, Southwest’s Buea United FC, Girondins Athletic FC of Adamawa, regulars Abong Mbang of the East Region, interpools debutants Options Sports Academy of the Northwest and Far North’s Sporting of Maroua, Krimi FC of Garoua and Atlantic of Kribi have secured their place in the competition.
Unfortunately for the organizers, the hosts region center have suffered double delays – the strike action from match officials and the pause to see out delayed matches due to late issuance of licenses for Vent D’Etoudi has kept the championship at the group stage till this moment. The same fate is shared by the Littoral championship that just resumed the second round.
The situation of the Littoral and Center Regional championships plus the announced ultimatum on compensation payment before the start of the interpools from the national Referees Association are the main preoccupation of the interpools organizers now as they push to start next month.
Clubs through to the 2024 National Interpools:
West – Volcan FC of the Noun
East – Union Sportif of Abong Mbang
Southwest – Buea United Football Club
Northwest – Options Sports Academy of Bamenda
Centre – TBC
Littoral -TBC
South – Atlantic of Kribi
Adamawa -Girondins Athletic of Ngaoundere
North – Krimi FC of Garoua
Far North – Sporting FC of Maroua
The Cameroon Football federation (FECAFOOT) announced on Monday that it is postponing the competition by a month, giving clubs ample time to prepare for the August 1 kick-off.
When all ten clubs to participate in the competition will be known, FECAFOOT will ask them to submit their list of players for verification and publication after which they will ask clubs to submit their complaints about their opponents players within a timeframe after which the tournament will begin with no team allowed to benefit from players qualification issues.
Buea United FC will be on standby in match day one but get their competition underway in day two against the North region before confronting South, West and Adamawa Regions.
