- Zabo Bello Doyen was taken to hospital for a more detailed follow-up
- The former Cameroon U-17 international is set for a spell on the treatment table
- The defender is in his second season at the club and had started all games so far
Astre of Douala beat Canon Yaoundé by 2-1 on Wednesday in Douala but the 2023/24 MTN Elite One match day four victory was blighted by a right hand fracture suffered by 18-year-old defender Zabo Bello Doyen barely three days after he scored his first goal for the club.
Fans who turned out at the Bepanda Omnisport Annex stadium enjoyed another early Astre goal from Stephane Mbah Ndjock, under a minute this time around while Jules Armand Kooh bullied the Canon defenders to score the second.
Priso Eyango reduced the deficit later in the game but Agbor Ernest’s Astre held on to earn maximum points for the hundreds of home fans that turned out.
The only downside was the injury to Zabo. The Cameroon international at U-17 category was stretched off after he collided and is now wearing a splint to support the injury.
Zabo will miss the next weeks of the season as he recovers from the accident.
The 18-year-old is expected to recover from the injury after the first round of the championship and should be available before the end of the season.
The right-back has been a starter for the team meaning coach Agbor Ernest will turn to other options from day five when they confront struggling Colombe in Yaoundé.
Going by the performances and results so far , Astre are among playoffs contenders.
