Heartland FC have commiserated with Sunshine Stars and FC One Rocket over the unfortunate armed robbery attack on them on their way to their weekend league encounters.
Sunshine Stars, a Nigeria Premier Football League side were ambushed by gunmen on Ore/Benin road on Thursday on their way to honour their NPFL Matchday 13 tie against Bendel Insurance in Benin while FC One Rocket also suffered the same fate enroute to their next Nigeria National League (NNL) tie.
In a press statement signed by the club’s General Manager, Promise Nwachukwu, Heartland FC tasked the security agencies to be more alive to their responsibilities and pay more than the usual attention to the hoodlums on the roads who are hell bent on causing confusion and state of chaos.
He wished the injured Sunshine Stars and FC One Rocket players and officials speedy recovery.
“We at Heartland FC extend our sympathies to Sunshine Stars over the dastard act did to them by men of the underworld. It pained us even more knowing that a ball boy was shot and several people injured,” Nwachukwu said in the press statement.
“We pray that God grant the injured speedy recovery and help stop its recurrence. We also heard FC One Rocket also experienced something similar. We pray that they all receive accelerated healings.
“We are calling on security agencies to redouble their efforts to stop the armed bandits’ attacks on our roads. We want to ply roads that we won’t have reasons to be afraid of. All those concerned should do something about it.”
