French Ligue 2 side AJ Auxerre have completed the signing of the exciting Cameroonian defender Aboubakar Siddik from reigning Cameroon champions Cotonsport of Garoua.
The 18-year-old double winners of the Cameroon Elite One championship was unveiled by the club this Tuesday morning after he penned a three-year deal with the ambitious club hoping to return to the big time.
The 1996 champions will throw the Cameroon U-20 international directly into their first team with hopes that he brings the impact created at Cotonsport and helps them back into the Ligue 1.
Siddik spent five years at Cotonsport of Garoua, progressing through the ranks to the category of a regular in the first team in his final two seasons at the Club.
Siddik was part of the Cameroon U-17 generation that has massively moved to France. Carlos Baleba of Lille, Olympique Marseille’s Mughe Francois Regis and Dijon duo Jean Pierre Kamga, Aboubakar Dalbai were all part of that 2020 golden generation.
Cotonsport have transferred Kaiba Djawal, Che Malone Fondoh Junior, Felix Oukine and Aboubakar Siddik abroad since the start of last season.
13 years ago current Indomitable Lions skipper Vincent Aboubakar switch from Cotonsport to Sochaux. The rest they say is history.
