The National Football Academy (ANAFOOT) shall as from October 8th to 28th, 2023 carry out the sixth edition of the detection and selection operation, for future boarders of the institution’s ten regional poles in the ten regions of Cameroon.
The information was officially made public, via a release, by the lead football training body, headed by Carl Enow Ngachu.
The detection and selection process of the future conscripts, of the National Football Academy will be supervised by some football experts,former footballers and Indomitable Lions.
They will be responsible for selecting the boys and girls aged between 8 and 16, among the best registered in the ten regions since 30 August 2023.
The general aim of this detection and selection campaign, is to identify young talents, with a predisposition for high-level football.
More specifically, the aim is to:
-Identify and register young people who wish to play football;
– Assess the level of each player on the basis of technical, athletic, tactical and psychological qualities;
-Draw up the minutes of the results obtained in the field, after counting and making them available to the General Management;
-Publish the results after the deliberations. At the end of this campaign, each pole will be endowed with a new team of boys and girls constituting the regional elite in their category.
With at least 500 young talents, expected to make up the sporting elite in the years to come.
The young prospects are registered by the heads of the regional poles on the basis of a photocopy of their birth certificate.
Teams of nine and eleven players will be formed, with matches lasting between 30 to 40 minutes.
The youngsters will be selected on the basis of technical,tactical, athletic (speed), mental and intelligence criteria. Skimming will be carried out throughout the process until the best are selected. During the off-season, ANAFOOT placed around thirty players with clubs playing in the elite leagues organized by the Cameroon Football Federation.
A dozen young players are regularly in the national squad, and some are currently on training camp with the national U-20 team as they prepare for the qualifiers for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
