ANAFOOT: Far North Region Crowned Champions of Talent Tournament

In a thrilling finale held at the Presidential Guard Sports Complex in Yaoundé, the team from the Far North region emerged victorious at the 4th edition of the Regional Pole Talents Tournament on the 24th of August 2024.

The tournament, which took place from the 19th to the 24th of August , pitted the top young talents from Cameroon’s different regional hubs against each other in a showcase of the country’s rising football stars. The final match saw the Far North Pole face off against the Littoral Pole in a closely contested affair that ended 1-1 after regulation time.

It was in the decisive penalty shootout that the Far North team proved their mettle, triumphing 5-3 to be crowned champions of the tournament.

Observers had it that, the Far North Pole’s triumph was well-deserved, as the team had delivered an impressive performance throughout the group stage. Finishing top of Group B with 3 wins and a draw, the northerners showcased a solid defense and an explosive attacking force that left their opponents in awe.

“This coronation of the Far North pole seems to be deserved,” remarked one observer. “The team achieved a remarkable performance during the group stage, finishing at the top of group B with 3 victories, a draw and no defeat conceded. Thanks to a solid defense and an explosive attack, this team left its opponents no chance.”

The Littoral Pole, widely tipped as the tournament favorites, was unable to overcome the resilience and skill of the northern youngsters in the final showdown.

Reflecting on the success of the event, Carl Enow Ngachu, the Director General of the National Football Academy, expressed his pride in the quality of the tournament and the impressive support from the organizers’ partners.

“I thank Orange Cameroon for this enormous support and all the companies that supported us,” Ngachu said. “The young people had fun and showed their talent. The club presidents were there. The coaches were there. Today, we are proud because what we do is of great benefit to Cameroonian football and the clubs of the Cameroonian Football Federation.”

Individual accolades were also handed out, with Lobe Ebanga from the Littoral Pole crowned as the tournament’s top scorer with 4 goals, and Madi Nicolas voted as the best goalkeeper. Moussa Arafat from the Far North Pole was named the best player of the tournament.

The official Draft ceremony for elite clubs is scheduled for the 29th of August , 2024, at the Palais Polyvalent des Sports in Yaoundé.
