Isle of Hope Sports Academy (ISOHSA) of Limbe are off to a winning start to the 2024/25 MTN Elite Two championship following their 3-2 win against TKC of Yaoundé on Saturday at the Olembe Annex stadium.

Goals from Akono Mendo, Arrey Jefta and an own goal from David Arnold Ntsama made Jean Bouli and Frederick Etoumbang’s goals earn no point for the host.

TKC were hoping to get their campaign on track when they face ISOHSA for the first time in their illustrious life after losing their first game of the season last weekend.

ISOHSA who were exempted from match day one were hoping to repeat the kind of start they made against Panthere of Nde in the previous season.

In-form forward Akono Mendo scored his club’s first of the season after 14 minutes after he received a well worked ball, beat the defensive vigilance of the hosts before making it 1-0.

Despite scoring the opener, ISOHSA of coach Mbock Maput stayed on the front foot forcing TKC to defend more often than not.

Chances fell to Jefta and Akono again but they couldn’t extend the advantage.

Jean Bouli benefitted from a defensive mix up to level for the home side but there was more to come.

Upon conceding, ISOHSA stayed on the front foot and pushed to restore their advantage until it was achieved just before the interval after David Ntsama deflected a low drive from Jefta into his own net.

The visitors took the slim advantage to the pause and the game looked far from over.

Barely ten minutes after the break, Nko Ghangle gave away a penalty after Refereeing team adjudged he had blocked a cross with his hand.

Veteran Etoumbang converted it to make 2-2 but ISOHSA would win it during the last ten minutes when Arrey Jefta who had squandered an opportunity earlier hit the ball into the TKC net.

Though the game had a few chances in the final moments, Ashu Kelvin made a safe and substitute Talikong Elwood Bantar also came close twice but there wasn’t a sixth goal for the fans.

The game finished 3-2 in favour of the visitors who travel to Limbe to welcome Eding Sport to Limbe while TKC are on standby.
