French Women top-flight giants, PSG have completed formalities to activate the transfter of Rasheedat Ajibade from Altletic Madrid CF, bringing an end to lengthly negotiations and speculations about the player’s future.
The club announced the acquisition of the 25-year-old on Tuesday, August 25 after securing the services of the Super Falcons forward on a two-year contract and marking an end to her four years stay in Madrid.
The move means Ajibade will become the second Nigerian player on the books of PSG, adding to Jennifer Echegini with whom she won the WAFCON for the Super Falcons less than a month ago as captain and was named MVP.
In a video posted by PSG, Ajibade is welcomed to the club and shown the facilities at the training complex by Super Falcons teammate Jennifer Echegini who also plays for PSG.
Along with several posts, a message to announce Ajibade’s arrival said, “Rasheedat Ajibade signs for Paris Saint-Germain until 2027.
“Paris Saint-Germain is delighted to announce the arrival of Nigerian striker who has joined the club on a deal that runs until 30th June 2027.”
The Falcons captain came through the ranks of FC Robo Queens in Lagos and played for the team until she moved to Avaldsnes IL in Norway at the age of 17 will now discover a third European country, culture and language after stints in Norway and Spain.
PSG, who are aiming to close the gap on Lyon domestically and push for UEFA Women’s Champions League success, see Ajibade as a key reinforcement in midfield. Her versatility—capable of playing centrally, out wide, or in an advanced role—offers coach Paulo Cesar valuable tactical flexibility.
