  • Aigle Royal de la Menoua ended their winless streak by playing out a 0-0 draw with Union sportive on Wednesday, earning their first point of the season.
  • Union had the upper hand in the attack but failed to find a clinical striker to seal the deal
  • Aigle’s defense kept a close eye on Hamit Seini, the hero of match day three, preventing him from repeating his home success.

Aigle Royal de la Menoua have picked up their first point in four league outings after playing a goalless draw with Union sportive of Douala on Wednesday, October 18.

Both teams failed to break the deadlock despite creating several chances. Les Nasara Gamakai controlled possession, however, lacked precision in its finishing.

Olivier Nankam’s decision to start with a more composed Serge Diguel between the sticks as replacement for Samuel Nkono Kwedi used in their previous encounters, was rewarding in keeping Hamit seini and Tchaoua Yves attempts off the net.

The Menoua boys were more defensive and relied on counter-attacks to catch Union sportive off guard. Colline Vianney had the lone chance for his side in the first half , but missed the target in a one-on-one situation with Unions’ goalkeeper Elimbi.

Second half substitute Fonyuy Lukong for Union, mounted more pressure on Pascal Pierre Tiba and teammates. A duel won on the flank at the 60th minute was wasted as his short went inches away from the post.

Hamit seini’s shot in the last quarter from a Fadil Loïc’s cross was pushed out by Serge Diguel, with the counter-attack crashing to the post.

The game was high-intensity and full of drama, as both teams fought hard for every ball and showed their passion and determination. The fans were also vocal and supportive of their teams, creating a lively atmosphere in the stadium.

The final whistle blew with the score still 0-0, as both teams had to settle for a point each. Union sportive was disappointed with the result, as they missed a chance to climb the table. Aigle royale was more satisfied with the outcome, as they earned their first point of the season and avoided another defeat. The game was a fair reflection of both teams’ strengths and weaknesses, as they showed their quality and spirit but also their lack of finishing touches.
