Their first challenge in the competition will be a face-off with Argentina, scheduled for July 24 at Saint-Étienne’s Geoffroy-Guichard Stadium.

Argentina has achieved great success in men’s football at the Olympics, securing gold medals in both the 2004 Athens and 2008 Beijing games. Ukraine will be making its first appearance in men’s football at the 2024 Paris Olympics, so they will be looking to establish their best. Their best achievement to date was a fourth-place finish in the 1964 edition.

The Young Pharaohs will go against the Dominican Republic in their first game, scheduled for July 24th, 2024, at Stade de la Beaujoire. As for Bronze medallist Mali, the challenge is in group B with still to be determined Asian Champions , Paraguay and Israel.

The young Eagles qualified by winning a decisive play-off against Guinea at the 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations in Rabat. This marked the country’s return to the sport at the Olympics for the first time in two decades. They face Israel in their opener on July 24. Mali’s performance in these matches will be crucial as they aim to advance beyond the group stage and make a significant impact on the tournament.

Guinea could emerge as a potential fourth African team at the Paris Olympics. Despite finishing fourth at the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON, they have a shot at becoming the fourth African representative in Paris, contingent on their victory over the fourth-placed team from the Asian Cup.

If Guinea secures this win, they would be grouped with France, the United States, and New Zealand in Group A.

In Women’s football, Africa’s two representatives will be decided after the last qualifying phase in April.

Winners of the matchup between Nigeria or South Africa will play Spain, Brazil and Japan in Group C, with the victor amongst Zambia and Morocco to be paired in group B with The USA, The Matilda’s of Australia and Germany.
