The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon have unanimously agreed to meet at the government-provided Hilton Hotel facility in Yaoundé for this week’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier clash against the Brave Warriors of Namibia.

According to sources within the team, the players have resolved to use the Hilton Hotel despite move of officials of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) to host them at the La Falaise Hotel in Bonandjo, Douala.

The decision by the squad comes after their leaders feedback from a meeting with top state officials and the head coach in the heat of the battle between FECAFOOT and Cameroon’s Ministry of Sports and Physical Education led by professor Narcisse Mouelle Kombi.

In response to the call to lodge at Hilton Hotel and prepare for the September 7 fixture, captain Vincent Aboubakar of Beşiktaş SK, Beijing Gouan’s Michael Ngadeu Ngadjui and MTN Elite One championship top scorer for last season Jules Armand Kooh have all checked into the Hilton Hotel in Yaoundé as at 9pm this Monday, September 2.

They will be joined by a massive group currently being put together in Douala.

Boris Enow of DC United, unattached Fai Collins Ngoran, Damac’s Georges Kevin Nkoudou Mbida and Jackson Tchatchoua of Hellas Verona who arrived via the Douala International Airport on board Brussels Airlines in the early hours of the evening are waiting for France-based trio Frank Magri, Christophe Maurice Wooh, Simon Ngapandouetnbu plus Bryan Mbeumo and Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa of Brentford and SSL Napoli respectively.

Immediately the group of nine players in Douala is complete they will fly to Yaoundé via a Camairco plane.

Andre Onana and Didier Lamkel Ze are on board another flight and are expected to be in Yaoundé.

We can confirm reports that the staff appointed by the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) are also at the Douala International Airport to pick up players, only that the government has mobilized a special military operation which denies them regular access into the arrival deck.

The September FIFA window will mark the beginning of the journey to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). In that regard, Cameroon will host Namibia on September 7 before jetting Kampala for a showdown against Zimbabwe.

The build up to the home game has been characterized by unmatched controversy as the government and the federation differ over the match venue.

As it stands the players have been reserved the La Falaise Hotel in Bonandjo Douala via FECAFOOT while Cameroon’s Ministry of Sports have kept Hilton Hotel in Yaoundé for the same players.

Earlier today, the advanced party for the Namibian delegation arrived Garoua for groundworks before the arrival of their team given that CAF is yet to communicate the change of the match venue from Garoua to Yaoundé even if the infrastructure managers have informed FECAFOOT of their unwillingness to have an event of that magnitude at the Roumde Adja stadium in Garoua.
