Riyad Mahrez scored the winning goal with two minutes left in the clock to hand Algeria a 2#1 win over Niger in Group F.
The Desert Foxes had to come from behind as Niger took a surprise lead through Daniel Sosah in the 38th minute at the Nelson Mandela stadium.
Algeria equalized nine minutes into the second half with an own goal from Alhassane Binkano before Mahrez won the tie in the 88th minute.
The win takes the 2019 African champions to 9points from three matches and could seal qualification if they beat Niger in Cotonou on March 27, when the two meet again.
Despite the defeat, Niger stays second with two points, one better than both Tanzania and Uganda who face off in Ismaila on Friday.
