Football fans in Cote d’Ivoire commercial city of Abidjan have been in scramble to get match tickets for the games involving the Nigeria’s senior men’s national team at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
It is on record that the group game between Super Eagles and Cote d’Ivoire which ended 1-0 in favour of the three time African champions produced the highest number of spectators at the ongoing competition with 49,517 fans in attendance at the Stade Olympique Alassane Ouattara.
22,085 spectators were at the Felix Houphouet Boigny stadium as Nigeria beat Cameroon 2-0 in the quarter final thanks to Ademola Lookman’s brace.
The attendance is another record for the highest number of spectators at the Felix Houphouet Boigny stadium as far as AFCON 2023 is concerned.
A huge number of fans were unable to watch the above games and are already in search for tickets to catch a glimpse of their darling team against Angola in the quarter final.
The last eight tie will also take place at the 33,000 capacity Felix Houphouet Boigny stadium with Nigerian fans hopeful of getting access to match tickets.
There is a massive presence of Nigerians in Cote d’Ivoire and the Super Eagles have also enjoyed the support of the locals.
Adjame area in Abidjan which is not far from the Felix Houphouet Boigny stadium have huge Nigerian inhabitant and the meeting venue for the Super Eagles Supporters Club (SESC) in Abidjan.
Match tickets can be purchased on the website of Confederation of African Football (CAF) and at some designated sales points in Cote d’Ivoire.
