Adèle Mafogang Secures Silver Medal at African Athletics Championship

Adèle, representing Cameroon, clinched a second silver medal at the ongoing African Athletics Championship in Douala.

The talented student from the National Institute of Youth and Sports accumulated 5527 points across seven events, earning her the silver in the Hepathlon. She narrowly missed the top spot by just 250 points, with first place going to Odile AHOUANWANOU from Benin, who scored 5777 points.

Other notable performances by Cameroonian athletes on day four include Norrah Lemongo Nkoulou, who secured fifth place in women’s shot put with a throw of 15.16 meters.

Nora Atim Monie achieved seventh place with her best throw measuring 14.52 meters. The top three spots in the competition were dominated by South Africa.

In the women’s 10,000 meters, Ottomo Mendouga faced tough competition from Kenyan and Ethiopian athletes, finishing in fifth place with a time of 38:22.71.

Cameroon’s ambassador in the 110 meters hurdles, Jorim Léonard BANGUE, crossed the finish line in fourth position with a time of 14.12 seconds. In the second series, Ngo Matéo outperformed his compatriots with a time of 13.77 seconds, securing second place and direct qualification for the final. In the third heat, Cameron Ngo settled for third place with an official performance of 14.09 seconds.

After day four, Cameroon stands 10th on the medal table, having secured two bronze medals in the Hepathlon and Men’s 100 meters.
