The Tanzania senior National team continued to boost their chances of qualification at next year’s African Cup of Nations ( AFCON) after a 1-0 victory over Niger on Sunday evening
Simon Msavu scored the lone goal for the hosts in the 69th minute from a well worked assist courtesy of Novatus beautiful run at Benjamin Mkapa stadium.
The game proved a hard nut in the hearts of home fans with Niger pushing for an equalizer in the last minutes.
The result meant much for the Taifa stars who played two hours prior to Uganda-Algeria encounter in group F.
Tanzania now sit in the second position on 7 points , three points above Uganda who suffered a blow after a 2-1 defeat to Algeria in Douala.
The Taifa stars are now close to qualification to the AFCON finals for the first time since 2019 when the competition was held in Egypt.
Adel’s side play against Algeria away from home in their last group game while Niger host Uganda.
The final games are expected to be played in September.
