Cameroon international André-Frank Zambo Anguissa produced a moment of magic with a spectacular bicycle kick, but Napoli were forced to settle for a 3-3 draw against AS Roma in a thrilling Serie A encounter at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium on Saturday, October 24.
Anguissa opened the scoring in the 28th minute with a stunning overhead kick that left Roma goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini with no chance. After Matteo Politano’s free-kick was cleared into the midfielder’s path, the Cameroonian showed remarkable technique and composure to send the ball looping into the net, giving Napoli a deserved lead.
The goal was a highlight of an entertaining contest and marked Anguissa’s first league goal of the 2026/27 campaign. The Indomitable Lion once again demonstrated his ability to contribute beyond his usual midfield duties, combining physical presence with an eye for spectacular finishes.
Napoli doubled their advantage shortly after the restart when Scott McTominay headed home Politano’s cross in the 48th minute. However, Roma refused to surrender, with Matías Soulé reducing the deficit in the 69th minute before substitute Leonardo Balerdi equalised five minutes later.
McTominay restored Napoli’s lead in the 83rd minute with a well-taken right-footed effort, seemingly putting the hosts on course for victory. But Balerdi struck again in the 89th minute, heading home Wesley’s cross to complete his brace and rescue a point for the visitors.
Despite Anguissa’s outstanding contribution, Napoli were left frustrated after surrendering their advantage twice. The result underlined their defensive concerns, while Roma maintained their unbeaten league run with a resilient performance in Naples.
For Anguissa, the spectacular strike offered a personal highlight in a match full of drama. Although his goal was not enough to secure maximum points, the Cameroonian midfielder once again showed why he remains an important figure in Napoli’s midfield as the Italian champions seek greater consistency in their title defence.
