Matchday 20 of the MtN elite one concluded this Monday, May 25, with Colombe closing the gap on leaders Unisport du Haut Nkam with win over Fortuna.

Unisport FC of Bafang strengthened their grip on the Cameroon Elite One title race with a commanding 4-2 away win over Victoria United FC of Limbe to stay top with 43 points, six points clear of second place Colombe, capping a weekend of high-scoring action across the league, after last week’s humiliation in Bamenda where they bowed heavily to PWD. Victoria United have lost three games in a row since returning from the North Region where they got the better of Coton Sport and Gazelle FA of Garoua.

Tailing them, is Colombe Sportive who beat AS Fortuna 3-0 on matchday 20 of the MtN elite one championship at the Omnisport Annex 1 stadium in Yaoundé, a game that saw Turkish cup winner Andre Onana in the stands.

Patrick Edzimbii’s brace and a goal from Steve Lima secured all three points for the defending champions and Jude Enow equally to thank for assisting twice.

PWD of Bamenda Bamenda produced the joint-biggest win of the day, netting four at home to climb to 5th place with 32 points. The Abakwa boys registered another dominant home victory, continuing their resurgence with a 4-1 win over visiting Fauvre Azur of Yaounde, making it a third consecutive victory for the North West side.

Dynamo keeps pressure on the leaders with a clean sheet away win, moving to 37 points and maintaining their title push as they beat Aigle Royal of the Menoua 2-0.

David Pagou’s Coton Sport returned to winning ways, defeating Stade Renard to hold 4th place on 35 points, making it a fourth game without defeat. For Gazelle of Garoua, the results were still not favorable. The boys of coach Alioum Kada suffered a 1-0 defeat at home against Panthere Sportive of Nde.

A lone goal from Atedzoa was enough for Panthere to take all three points in Garoua.

Aigle Royal of Moungo edged Canon 1-0, grabbing a crucial win in their fight to escape relegation.

After 20 rounds, the league table shows a clear split. Unisport Bafang lead with 13 wins, while Colombe, Dynamo of Douala and Coton Sport chase closely . At the other end, Fauve Azur and AS Fortuna remain in relegation zone with 17 and 14 points respectively.

With 10 matches left in the 2025/26 season, the race for the title and the battle to avoid the drop are both intensifying. Matchday 21 will see Unisport du Haut Nkam and Dynamo of Douala, look to maintain momentum and Colombe travels to Bamenda as the season enters its final stretch.
