French-Cameroonian defender Nathan Fondja has taken a major step in his career after signing his first professional contract with En Avant Guingamp.

The 20-year-old centre-back is now tied to the Breton club until June 2029, as Guingamp continue to place their trust in young talents emerging from their academy system.

Fondja, who joined Guingamp’s setup in 2024, has steadily progressed with the reserve side and earned recognition for his performances in defence. The powerful central defender also got his first taste of senior football during the 2025/26 campaign, making an appearance in Ligue 2 with the first team.

According to reports in France, Guingamp had been in discussions with the Franco-Cameroonian youngster for several weeks before finalising the deal, with the club seeing him as one of the promising defensive prospects for the future.

His signing comes during a period in which Guingamp are rewarding several academy graduates with professional contracts as part of their long-term development strategy.

For Cameroon, Fondja remains another young dual-national talent to monitor closely in Europe. With his physical profile, defensive composure and growing experience in French football, the 20-year-old could emerge as a future option for the Indomitable Lions if his development continues on the same trajectory.
