Bryan Mbeumo was the standout performer as Manchester United continued their impressive Premier League form with a 2–0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on Saturday. The win moves United up the table and extends their strong run under interim manager Michael Carrick.

The decisive moment came early when Tottenham captain Cristian Romero was shown a straight red card in the 29th minute for a reckless challenge on Casemiro, reducing Spurs to ten men and giving United the upper hand.

United took full advantage of the extra player and broke the deadlock in the 38th minute. From a cleverly worked set-piece routine, Bruno Fernandes played the ball to Kobbie Mainoo, whose pass found Mbeumo, who tucked a low shot into the bottom corner to give the hosts the lead.

Despite Spurs’ goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario making a number of strong saves to keep the score down, United maintained control. The Reds finally secured the victory in the 81st minute when Bruno Fernandes reacted quickest at the back post to redirect Diogo Dalot’s cross into the net for his side’s second.

The result marks United’s fourth consecutive Premier League win, reinforcing their position in the top four and underscoring their resurgence under Carrick. Spurs, by contrast, remain without a league win in seven matches and will be disappointed not to have shown more resilience after going down to ten men.

Manchester United 2 (Mbeumo 38, Fernandes 81)

Tottenham Hotspur 0

Red card: Romero (Tottenham, 29)
