Inter Milan are reportedly considering a surprise move to bring André Onana back to Italy as the club prepares for life after Yann Sommer.

According to reports from fcinternewsofficial, the Nerazzurri are actively searching for a successor to Sommer, 37, who is expected to leave the club at the end of the season. Among the profiles being studied is Cameroon international André Onana, who previously played for Inter during the 2022/23 campaign.

Onana left a strong impression during his sole season in Milan, helping Inter reach the UEFA Champions League final, and is said to have maintained excellent relationships with the club’s hierarchy since his departure.

The report adds that Onana’s agent is currently in Italy, where the goalkeeper still owns a villa, a detail that has further fueled speculation over a potential return to Serie A. The strong ties between the agent and Inter’s management could ease negotiations should the club decide to pursue the deal.

However, any move would depend on reaching an agreement with Manchester, who currently hold the player’s registration, making negotiations potentially complex.

While no formal talks have been confirmed, Inter’s interest signals that the club is seriously evaluating experienced options as it plans for a transition in goal ahead of next season.
