Colombe of Dja and Lobo have completed one of the biggest close season transfers this summer, signing Cameroon international Leandre Kana Tawamba on a short term deal.

Information reaching our to the editorial crew have it that the transfer of the 35-year-old Cameroon international completed medicals on Monday ahd signed his contract before being unveiled at that club’s headquarters in Yaounde.

Tawamba who played for Cameroon’s youth teams and is a full international has been a free agent since leaving Al Tai in Saudi Arabia earlier this year.

The former Aigle Royal defender who was transformed to a forward over a decade ago is set to add value to Colombe’s attack that was bolstered a few days ago with the acquisition of Ako Calistus from PWD who joined alongside goalkeeper Edouard Sombang.

Tawamba, former striker of Partizan Belgrade, Ajax Cape Town amongst others last played in Cameroon in 2006 before moving abroad. He returns with huge experience and ready to deliver for a club representing the hopes and aspirations of his nation.

Colombe have registered the forward for the CAF Champions League and will be counting on him to deliver like he did in Cameroon’s 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier matches a few years back, drawing inspiration from the assist he provided for Eric Maxim Choupo Moting’s goal against Algeria in the dramatic extra time 2-1 win against Algeria in Blida.

Though he is an old guard in big games, his being at Colombe will provide an opportunity for him to make his debut in the CAF Champions League at 35.

Colombe with Tawamba in their ranks will face Senegalese side Jaraaf in the first preliminary rounds of the CAF Champions League next month on home and away form.

Tawamba and his new colleagues have the onus on them to end Cameroon’s three year absent in the group stage of the CAF Champions League as the country’s last appearance at that level dates back to 2022 via a Cotonsport side that lost all six of its group matches in a pool that had Mamelodi Sundowns, Al Ahly and Al Hilal Omdurman.

Former Intermediate Lions of Cameroon skipper Banga Bidjime is equally linked with a move with a return to Colombe.
