Aigle Royal de la Menoua will face FC San Pedro in the second preliminary round of the 2025/2026 CAF Confederation Cup. The draw took place on Saturday, August 9, 2025. The two legs will be played between October 17–19 October 2025 and the return Leg on 24–26 October 2025.
The elite two champions qualified for this competition after finishing runners-up in the 2024 Cameroon Cup, losing 1-0 to Colombe Sportive in the final. This will be Aigle’s first time playing in a continental tournament.
The team won their first national title this year by winning the Elite Two championship, which earned them promotion to Elite One after just one season in the second division.
FC San Pedro has more experience in African club competitions. They began the 2025 season by winning the Super Coupe Félix Houphouët-Boigny, beating Stade d’Abidjan 1-0. Dramane Kamagaté scored the only goal. He was also the top scorer in the 2024-2025 Ivorian league season.
The side founded in 2004 won the 59th Côte d’Ivoire national cup in May 2025. They defeated Racing Club d’Abidjan 4-2 on penalties after a draw in regular time.
Looking at their continental record, FC San Pedro has competed several times in the CAF Confederation Cup. Their best performance was reaching the group stage in 2019-2020. In that campaign, they played against Paradou AC of Algeria, Enyimba Aba of Nigeria, and Hassania Agadir of Morocco.
In other Confederation Cup seasons, they were eliminated early: in 2018-2019 at the second preliminary round by Nkana FC of Zambia, and in 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 at the first preliminary rounds.
They also played in the CAF Champions League recently. In 2024-2025, they passed the first preliminary round by defeating Bo Rangers FC from Sierra Leone before getting knocked out in the second preliminary round by Al-Hilal SC of Sudan.
In the previous season, San Pedro lost to Al-Hilal again after a 2-2 home draw and a 1-0 defeat away. That ended their Champions League run just before the group stage.
If Aigle wins, they will face either Black Man Warriors of Liberia or Cotonsport of Benin in the next round.
This match will pit a newcomer against a team with more continental experience. A big weight rests on El Pacha’s shoulders to improve on Fovu’s poor showing last season.
