Newly-promoted French Ligue 1 club have offered an ungraded year contract and extended Arthur Avom Ebong’s stay till the summer of 2027.
The new deal to keep the exciting Cameroonian no midfielder was announced on Friday July 25, marking an end to speculations about a move away to the Club this summer.
The new deal for the 22-year-old box-to-box midfielder sees an improvement in his earnings and puts him amongst the leaders at last year’s French Ligue 2 champions.
Avom joined Lorient just under two years ago from Cameroon top-flight side Fauve Azur Elite on the heels of a scintillating outing in the Francophonie games with Cameroon’s U-20 team and hasn’t looked back since then.
He played a telling role in the Club’s promotion to the French Ligue 1 championship, earning nomination as a candidate for the championship player of the season. Those outstanding displays had seen Premier League clubs rumoured to be keen on his services, but Lorient have somehow succeeded in convincing his entourage to maintain the collaboration and his development.
Avom, Darling Zidane Yongwa and Cameroon descent Yvon Mvogo will form the Cameroon-related contingent at the club on their return to Ligue 1 when the season starts in August.
Lorient will start their new campaign away to Guingamp and Avom will be crucial for that and the rest of the season.
