Captain Nchindo John Bosco Yong of the Intermediate Lions of Cameroon has tender his apologies to the entire nation following the team’s shock elimination from the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) after their 2-1 defeat at home amounted to their elimination on away goal rule after the 2-2 tie.

Nchindo who skippered the side home and away plus provided an assist in the 1-2 defeat at home expressed his disappointment about the final outcome while calling on all to remain optimistic.

“It has been the toughest days of my career, definitely same for my teammates but then we know it is important to talk to our stronghold, you the fans.

This would have been the perfect end of year gift to the entire Cameroon, but football as it is saw fate take away that gift from us.

“Losing to Central African Republic at home and failing to qualify for CHAN 2025 has been a bitter pill to swallow.

I am deeply sorry and my teammates in the same like have felt that disappointment but we want you to know that we went out there with the objective to give our best for country .

At the Kuekong stadium, we gave our all, but it wasn’t enough as the outcome left us wanting and for that I apologize to all the fans for we know your passion would have been well fed with a glorious outcome,” Nchindo wrote.

The Cotonsport of Garoua midfielder then put a finger on the current atmosphere of division plaguing Cameroon football as a factor to be looked into going forward.

“To all Cameroon football lovers, I beg on us all to put our heads together and make Cameroon football great again because football brings a lot more than joy to this nation.”

“Thank you for always supporting us and it is always a pleasure to represent my country with all pride and honor,” he concluded.

The elimination of the intermediate Lions of Cameroon means the 2020 semi-finalist of the competition won’t travel to East Africa next year for the eighth edition of the competition reserved for players plying their trade in their country of origin.

Cameroonians will have to wait till 2027 to experience their team give another shot at qualifying for the finals of the tournament.
