  • This international break has turned into a nightmare for Christopher Wooh
  • The Breton club defender suffered a head injury in an aerial duel with a Kenyan defender

Indomitable Lions of Cameroon sweeper Christopher Maurice Wooh will be flown to France this Saturday evening for further medical actions despite assurances.

During an aerial duel, Wooh collided heads with an opponent. The impact was so severe that he lost consciousness and had to be evacuated on a stretcher.

Information reaching the kick442.com crew have it that Wooh didn’t travel with the rest of the squad that arrived Kampala this afternoon because Cameroon football authorities and Stade Rennes officials have agreed the player be evacuated with medical supervision to ensure a more intensive assessment and treatment for the player.

Although initial reports are reassuring and Wooh has regained consciousness, he will undergo several tests to assess the severity of his injury. On his Instagram account, he sought to reassure fans: “Thank you for your messages, nothing serious. More fear than harm,” he wrote.

This injury is a significant blow for Stade Rennais and Julien Stéphan, who rely on their central defender to ensure the solidity of their defense. If examinations confirm a concussion or a more serious injury, Wooh could be unavailable for several weeks or even months.

Head injuries are increasingly being taken seriously in football. Medical protocols are being strengthened to protect players and avoid long-term consequences.

Wooh will undergo additional tests before he can return to training. In a press conference, Cameroon head coach Marc Brys assured that there was nothing serious.

The coming days will be crucial to determine the extent of his injury and the duration of his unavailability. Stade Rennais will need to prepare for all eventualities, including the possibility of being without their central defender for an extended period.

The latest twist reignites fears about the player’s situation.

Jean Charles Castelletto and Michael Ngadeu Ngadjui completed the clash against Kenya as the defensive pairing for Cameroon.
