AFCON 2025 Qualifiers: Christopher Wooh assures after sustaining Head injury

Christopher Maurice Wooh has assured Cameroonians of his health bringing an end to fears for the worst from his head injury picked up in a clash at the Amadou Ahidjo Stadium on Friday, October 11.

The defender took to social media to assure Cameroonians:

“Thank you for your messages, there no big deal. It’s not as bad as first feared.”

The outing guaranteed concerned parties and dusted the little fears many had about the situation of the player.

After the match ended with a  4-1 victory over Kenya, the President of FECAFOOT, Samuel Eto’o, Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Prof. Narcisse Mouelle Kombi and Minister of Public Health, Dr. Manaouda Malachi, paid him a visit to ensure he was doing well.

The victory of the Indomitable Lions brought joy to Coach Marc Brys, who has been at the helm for five matches, now boasting three victories and two draws without a single defeat. During his interview, he expressed admiration for the team’s performance, stating, “I’ve been coaching for 30 years, and this is the first time I see such a well-grouped team. We played a good game with a lot of zeal, courage, and ambition. When you score three goals, it feels good.”

He further highlighted, “Now there’s a rematch we need to consolidate the score. I am very proud of the team.”

Meanwhile, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon secured a sensational 4-1 victory against the Harambee Stars of Kenya at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaoundé on Friday, the 11th of October . This win allows them to top Group J in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers with 7 points.

The opening goal was scored by team captain Vincent Aboubakar just 8 minutes into the game through a penalty shootout. With Martin Hongla scoring the second goal in the 39th minute, marking his first international goal. Bryan Mbeumo scored the third goal, dedicating it to the injured Christopher Wooh, while Christian Bassogog scored the final goal of the game. On the other hand, Michael Olunga scored the lone goal for the Harambee Stars.

The success of the Indomitable Lions places them at the top of Group J with 7 points, followed by Zimbabwe with 5 points, Kenya with 4 points, and Namibia at the bottom with 0 points. This win marks a significant milestone for the Indomitable Lions as they prepare to travel to Kampala, Uganda, for their next match on Saturday ahead of the game proper on the 14th of October.
