Algerian cyclist, Mimouni Abdellah Oussama, emerged victorious in the second lap of the 20th edition of the international cycling tour 2024. The competition, which saw the participation of 33 cyclists from 8 national cycling teams, was marked by torrential rainfall that forced the bikers to halt after covering a 10km distance to the finish line, ultimately giving Oussama an advantage as he was declared the winner of the second lap of the tour.
The event featured teams from France, Holland, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Algeria, Cameroon, Morocco, and Cote D’Ivoir.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Professor Narcisse Mouelle Kombi. The competition commenced with the first lap covering a distance of 131km from Maroua to Mora and back to Maroua.
During the first lap, Cameroonian cyclist Clovis Kamzong expressed his team’s aspirations to win, stating, “My team and I are hopeful that the anthem of Cameroon will be sung in Maroua at the end of the first lap. We have been in Garoua for some time now to acquaint ourselves with the climate, and we think everything will go as planned.”
In addition to Oussama, five other cyclists from Algeria, including Benyousef Abdalla, Boudar Zaki, Badlis Slimane, Sahiri Ayoub, and Megnouche Hamza, participated in the competition.
