23-year- old Cameroonian midfielder Felix Oukine Tcheode has joined Belgian third tier side RAAL La Louvière on a three-year-deal from Coton sport of Garoua.
The box-to-box midfielder arrived Belgium this Wednesday, December 28, completed his formalities and then signed the contract for the Belgian side who swiftly unveiled him.
Felix Oukine made name for himself back in the Cameroonian championship, growing through the ranks of Cotonsport of Garoua.
He once became the captain of the club who helped Cotonsport win two national titles and the cup of Cameroon.
Oukine, was part of Cameroon’s U-23 and Intermediate Lions squad while back at home and helped Cameroon reach the semifinals of the 2020 African Nations Championship on home soil.
Before he left for abroad, Oukine was bracing up for another experience in the CHAN 2022 in Algeria next year, given that he was part of coach Alioum Saidou’s 30-man provisional squad preparing for the competition.
His move abroad leaves a void both at Cotonsport of Garoua and the heart of the midfield of the intermediate Lions, given that the technical staff are now working to get a replacement weeks before the start of the CHAN.
He becomes the second player to leave the lions den after former mate from Cotonsport, Marou Souaibou switched to South Africa’s Orlando Pirates.
During Oukine’s 17 years at Cotonsport of Garoua, he made 146 appearances in five seasons with the senior team and scored 12 goals from the holding midfield position.
Meanwhile for Cameroon, he has represented the country on 12 occasions so far and scored a memorable goal in the quater final of the 2020 African Nations Championship against DR Congo.
Raal are hoping the high profile arrival inspires them to the second tier championship.
