Portugal opened her World Cup campaign in Group H, by obtaining a hectic 3-2 win, against the Black Stars of Ghana, on Thursday, November 24, 2022, in Qatar.
Cristiano Ronaldo became the first player to score in five World Cup finals when he tucked away Portugal’s first goal from a penalty spot in the 65th minute.
Andre Ayew’s equalizer briefly looked like it would spoil Portugal’s fiesta, but a quick reaction from Joao Felix in the 78th minute and substitute Rafael Leao in the 80th minute each, took the Portuguese on 3-1.
Osman Bukari’s scintillating 89th-minute puller came via a header, as the score went to 3-2. Portugal held on through nine minutes of injury time to impatiently seize the lead in Group H. After South Korea and Uruguay played a goalless draw.
The next game for the Black Stars of Ghana will be against South Korea on Monday, November 28, 2022. While winners Portugal lock horns against Uruguay on the same day.
