Nigeria senior national team will attempt to stage an instant return to the FIFA World Cup in 2026 when it starts its campaign against South Africa during the World Cup Qualifiers.
The Super Eagles were drawn in Group C at the draw ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup alongside South Africa, Benin Republic, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, and Lesotho.
It will attempt to make it to its seventh World Cup.
The Indomitable Lions will face Cabo Verde, Angola, Libya, Eswatini, and Mauritius in Group D.
The last African Cup of Nations host will attempt back-to-back appearance at the World Cup after its First Round exit at the 2022 edition in Qatar.
Morocco which made it to the semi final of the World Cup as the first African side to achieve such feat will trade tackles with Zambia, Congo, Tanzania, Eritrea, and Niger Republic in Group E.
African champions, Senegal will square up with Congo DR, Burkina Faso, Sierra Leone, Guinea Bissau, Ethiopia, and Djibouti in Group A.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be co hosted by Canada, United States of America, and Mexico with the top teams from the nine groups in Africa making it to the tournament.
