The Union of Central African Football Federation (UNIFFAC) U-17 Men’s tournament is set to kick off in Douala this month, with five nations confirming their participation.

According to sources from kick442.com, Cameroon, Gabon, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Congo Republic have all confirmed their presence in the tournament, pending MRI testing formalities.

The return of Gabon and DR Congo, who missed the previous edition, promises to make the competition more intense. The tournament will begin with MRI testing from February 11 to 15 at the Laquintini Hospital in Douala. Only players born between December 31, 2010, and January 1, 2018, who receive MRI (Magnetic Resonance Information) clearance, will be eligible to participate.

The competition will commence on February 16, with Cameroon facing DR Congo and Congo Republic taking on Central African Republic at the Reunification Stadium in Douala. The top three nations in the final standings will qualify for the U-17 AFCON, scheduled to take place later this year in Morocco.

Notably, CAF has increased the number of participants in the tournament to 16 nations.

Previous UNIFFAC participants have had impressive performances in the AFCON finals; the most recent being Cameroon who were victors in Tanzania, led by Steve Mvoue and Ekoi Manfred.
