- Former ISOHSA Tiku and Sambo Abdoulaye scored in pre-season friendlies on Saturday
- They are three of former ISOHSA players participating in the pre-season tournament
- The eight-club tournament is aimed at helping teams better prepare for the new season
Former Isle of Hope Sports Academy (ISOHSA) of Limbe forwards Sambo Abdoulaye Issa and Albert Tiku Egbe were scorers for Atlantic of Kribi and Union Sportif of Douala in their first games of the maiden edition of the Wouri Divisional League of FECAFOOT pre-season tournament.
Sambo scored a brace to help Atlantic of Kribi punish Avion Academy by 1-3 while Tiku scored one of Union’s goals in the 2-2 draw against Aigle of Moungo in a dream bow for both men.
Tiku and Sambo shared the dressing room together in ISOHSA’s dream 2023 season and played pivotal roles to help the Limbe based club achieve promotion to the MTN Elite Two championship as Southwest Regional championship and the national interpools champions.
Though Sambo was out for the debut season in Elite Two, Tiku was part of ISOHSA’s run to the semi-final of the cup of Cameroon and a top place finish in the playoffs before departing to Union this summer while Sambo joined newly-promoted Atlantic of Kribi.
20-year-old Tiku joined Union Sportif of Douala on a deal that fetched ISOHSA 2.5 millions FCFA plus 20% of the ownership of the player in the next two years while Sambo,31, moved to Kribi as a free agent.
The impact of both players at their new club emphasizes popular opinion that the Isle of Hope Sports Academy is a major nursing ground for talents or enabler of the achievement of their full capacity.
The abovementioned duo form a crop of players ISOHSA have transferred out in the close season window. The club has also transferred Frank Ipoua Dylan to Canon Yaoundé, Souley Badamassi to Fovu of Baham, Michel Abianda to PWD, Michael Wirikom to YOSA in addition to Ivan Yatchet Berthault, Ndanga Dejoli, Armel Nguene II amongst others who are currently in Europe.
Negotiations are ongoing for the transfer of Ikose Njuma Conrad and Serge Bengono to local clubs as well as Ekene Calistus Zama to a club in Serbia.
Meanwhile in Limbe, ISOHSA are preparing for their second season in the MTN Elite Two championship and are expected to be a serious contender for glory in the 17-club MTN Elite Two championship expected to start by December 2024 and run till June next year.
