  • ONIES has recommended FECAFOOT moves Cameroon Vs Namibia clash to a new venue
  • Japoma Stadium was initially scheduled to host the game but there is a worry about that now
  • Cameroon vs Namibia in Japoma tickets are on sale

Officials of the National Office for Sports Infrastructures (ONIES) have announced the inability of the Japoma Studium, to host the Indomitable lions clash, against Namibia due to poor climatic conditions and the unfavorable nature of the terrain.

The information was made public, in an epistle addressed ,to the President of the Cameroon Football Federation signed on August 7,by the Director of the Institution.

The ONIES management have proposed the Yaounde Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium, as alternative to FECAFOOT, for the organization of the match slated for September 7. Due to the moderate climatic condition reigning in Yaounde and the conducive nature of the turf.

The letter in full:

‘’On August 7, 2024, we notified you of our agreement in principle for the provision of the Japoma Sports Complex for the official match mentioned in the subject. Taking into account the very particular interest that the Very High Hierarchy grants to the good material organization of this meeting, clearly expressed by letter No. B99/SG/PR of August 12, 2024 of which you are the recipient.’’

‘’I have the honor to draw your attention to the abundance and quasi-permanence of rains in the city of Douala, as well as the upward trend in precipitation which could peak at 600-700 mm (with daily and quasi-permanent rains during the August-September period). There is therefore, a strong probability that the various training sessions of the two (02) teams will take place in the rains, as well as the September 7, clash.’’

‘’This state of precipitation has led to the raising of the water tables, the near saturation of the soils in the coastal area of Douala and in particular the susceptibility of the lawn of the Japoma Sports Complex, which was severely damaged by the preparatory activities and the international matches of August 17 and 18, 2024 involving (Red Stars-RCA vs Djoliba –Mali and Victoria United Cameroon vs FC Samartex 1996-Ghana).’’

‘’Till date, the lawn of the Japoma Sports Complex can no longer guarantee the minimum operating conditions, in particular the comfort of the game, the health of the athletes and the beauty of the show. This lawn must be preserved and urgently undergo special reparation for at least 30 days. It goes without saying that at the end of the restoration period, the said lawn will be in better conditions to host future major sporting events.’’

‘’However, we strongly recommend the relocation of the match of September 7, 2024 to one of the other stadiums approved by CAF in Cameroon. We can assure you that the Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium in Yaoundé is ready and meets all the appropriate conditions to host the said match. We will also carry out an emergency assessment of the Garoua site for all useful purposes.’’

The Cameroon Football Federation has launched tickets sales, for the highly anticipated Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers between Cameroon and Namibia, with prices ranging from 2000 fcfa for regular, 5000Fcfa for VIP and 50.000fcfa for VVIP. With fans expected to purchase their tickets through the Maxit platform by Orange Cameroon, official sponsor of the team, with additional service fee of 100,200, and 500 FCFA.
