The Cameroon Football Federation FECAFOOT, has stated that they’re considering filling a complaint with the French Justice system, regarding an attempted blackmail and extortion by French journalist Romain Molina.

In a press release on Friday evening, FECAFOOT attempts a response to reports of a supposed racketeering practice within the indomitable lions. News that some players of the Cameroon and Ghana National teams bribed their way to the world cup, grabbed headlines on Thursday, when French investigative journalist Romain Molina, in a nine minutes YouTube video explained that he has evidence that at least five players of the indomitable lions squad that took part at the world cup, paid or sacrificed part of their bonuses, to be selected for the world cup, at the detriment of better and High performant players.

Now, FECAFOOT’s press release December 09, Signed by its Secretary General Blaise Djounang states that, Molina has attempted to extorted the sum of 25, 000 euros, approximately 16,398,928FCFA.

“Last November 23, the president of FECAFOOT Mr. Samuel Eto’o, was contacted in writing via WhatsApp by a correspondent introducing himself as Romain Molina,” FECAFOOT wrote.

“He purported to have documents and a flash drive containing audio and television conversation that were harmful to the image of the federation and its president. Molina added that he was ready to renounce the publication of of these elements in exchange for a payment of 25,000 euros,” FECAFOOT continued.

“The amount was supposed to be transferred to an account for which he provided a bank account number. He was also ready to give the names of his sponsors, who had already paid him 7,000 euros (approximately 4,585,043 FCFA) in advance and had undertaken to pay a balance of 13,000 euros ( 8,517,140 FCFA) after publication.

“Obviously the president of FECAFOOT never followed up on this request because it is a principle not to negotiate with blackmailers. In any case, FECAFOOT is considering filling a complaint with the French Justice system regarding this attempted extortion. In the course of this procedure, it will have the rights to access the file in order to see more clearly,” FECAFOOT further explained.

It should be noted that Romain Molina is not the only person who has threatened to reveal the list of players who paid to be selected. Earlier on, former indomitable lions forward Mohammadou Idrissou alias Tchoki Tchop, had threatened in one of his Videos that he will reveal the names of players who paid to be selected for the world cup. Idrissou has since that not make public the supposed list.

Shortly after FECAFOOT’s press release, Romain Molina took to Twitter to term it as lies.

“What level of lies are we at? These are my only conversations with Samuel Eto’o dated March 2022 about a pedophile coach in Bafoussam. We never talked about anything else. You’re faster at lying than protecting the kids anyway,” Molina wrote.

“My lawyer will be happy. I don’t even have a word for this press release and this lie. If Samuel has a problem, he has my number, he calls me and we will already finish the job in Bafoussam, then we will talk about the people who racketeer in the national team. keep the faith,” he added.
