The Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) has issued a directive requiring clubs in the MTN Elite One and Two clubs to identify their home match venues by January 14, 2025, at 3:00 p.m.

This announcement comes after ongoing difficulties between FECAFOOT and the National Office of Infrastructure and Sports Equipment (ONIES) regarding stadium rental agreements, which have hindered the smooth operation of the leagues.

The recent communication from FECAFOOT, delivered by Secretary General Isaac Mandong, reflects a growing frustration within the federation over its inability to secure suitable stadiums for league matches.

The federation has faced challenges in negotiating reasonable terms with ONIES, which has resulted in exorbitant rental fees, that they find unsustainable.

During a general assembly held prior to this directive, President Samuel Eto’o had expressed optimism about securing quality pitches for teams. However, with the season already underway—six match days completed in Elite One and four in Elite Two—clubs are now unexpectedly tasked with finding their own venues.

This abrupt shift has left many stakeholders surprised and concerned about the implications for the league’s organization.

The response from club officials and fans has been mixed. Many have expressed disappointment at the lack of foresight from FECAFOOT in addressing these logistical issues before the season began.

In foresight , Canon of Yaounde and Tonerre Kalara club had set out their venue for home games prior to the start of the season

Despite the challenges posed by this directive, there is a silver lining. The decision has been positively received by fans in regions like the Northwest, where supporters of PWD of Bamenda and Yong Sport Academy are eager to see their teams play at home.

Additionally, these clubs will be responsible for managing ticket sales and related revenues as per the distribution grid established by the federation. Clubs without suitable venues are also required to notify FECAFOOT by this deadline.
