  • Nathan Ngoumou of Borussia Mönchengladbach has switched international allegiance to Cameroon after talks with Marc Brys
  • The 24-year-old former French Youth international could be named in Marc Brys’ next Indomitable Lions squad
  • Ngoumou joins the likes of Carlos Baleba and Jackson Tchatchoua who have been brought to the team in the past six months of Brys in charge

Indomitable Lions of Cameroon head coach Marc Peter Brys has convinced German-based french-born forward Nathan Ngoumou Minpole to play for Cameroon despite being eligible to represent Gabon and France as well.

kick442.com has information on good authority that the 24-year-old Borussia Mönchengladbach who has a Cameroonian father and a Gabonese mother but was born and raised in France has bought into coach Brys’ project after a brief conversation with the Belgian gaffer.

Ngoumou’s decision comes months after Marc Brys met his father in France to discuss the option of having the forward play for Cameroon despite former Gabon coach Patrice Neveu stating three years ago that he had agreed to join the Panthers of Gabon.

The former French youth international who is currently nursing an injury has settled for Cameroon which provides him an opportunity to express himself at senior international level after providing enough evidence to earn that with his club performances over the years.

If all go as planned, Ngoumou, cousin of former Cameroon international Achille Emana could be called up to the Indomitable Lions camp in the next FIFA window when Cameroon take on Zimbabwe and Namibia in the last two Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier matches in November.

The coming of the former Toulouse FC forward who counts six goals in 57 appearances for Borussia Mönchengladbach since joining them in 2022 will provide more attacking threat for the five-time African champions who have not been shy in front goal since the arrival of Marc Brys in April this year.

Everything being equal, Namaso Daniel Loader of FC Porto is also expected to be part of the team in future as fruitful talks with the Belgian coach has made him thumbs up his fatherland over England, France and Portugal.

The arrival of Ngoumou and Loader will add to Carlos Baleba Noom Quomah and Jackson Tchatchoua which Marc Brys has convinced to join the Indomitable Lions in just six months at the helm of the team fresh from achieving a 21st AFCON final qualification and seeking a record nine qualification for the FIFA World Cup in 2026 in Canada, USA and Mexico.
