The 64th edition of the Cup of Cameroon showpiece is scheduled for September 22, 2024 in Yaoundé, exclusive sources close to concerned clubs have told Kick442.com.

Traditionally presided over by President Paul Biya, this year’s final just like the last three editions will be graced by Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute.

This event marks the conclusion of the season for the over 50 sporting federations nationwide, pitting Colombe Sportive against Aigle Royal of Menoua.

Colombe Sportive, hailing from the South, will be making their debut in the Cup of Cameroon final. They reached this stage without conceding a goal in five matches, contrasting with Aigle Royal who are appearing in their fourth final despite facing relegation to the second tier during the regular season. Aigle’s path to the finals has included three rounds of matches decided by penalties.

Both teams have been training intensively since their semi-final matches in July. Colombe has arranged a friendly against Cameroon’s U20 team on September 13, following previous matches against APEJES and Chadian champions AS PSI. They also participated in the finals of the Samuel Eto’o Super Cup in Yaoundé.

Aigle has been training at CENAJES Stadium in the west region, under the guidance of coach Gaston Temfack.

Both teams are also making roster adjustments to replace transferred players. Key Colombe player Yannick Tankeu Noah has moved to Saint Gallen FC in Switzerland, while Frank Kamleu signed with FK Partizani in Albania, and Charles Tchaplaou has gone to Morocco. In response, Colombe has signed Hamidou Hamza from Yong Sports Academy and Liberian midfielder Toni Emmanuel, among others. Coach Richard Towa remains at the helm for the new season.

Aigle’s top scorer, Amine Hiver, has signed with Zambian side Zesco United. The team has also secured a new team bus to celebrate this milestone achievement.

As both teams gear up for this pivotal match, a victory for either side would secure their first-ever Cup of Cameroon title.
