November 29, 2025, is a date where the personal destiny of a legend and the centenary history of a club intertwine. While Europe celebrates heritage, Africa, through the voice of the ballot box, has just entrusted a new mandate to its most illustrious ambassador.

The Continuity at FECAFOOT: Samuel Eto’o Extends for Four Years

It is on this symbolic day that Samuel Eto’o Fils, the former world-class striker, is re-elected as the head of the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT) for a second four-year mandate.

From Pitch Legend to Federal Builder

Initially elected in December 2021 on a promise of “revolution” and modernization, Eto’o led a first mandate (2021-2025) marked by structural reforms — improving the status of local players, attempting to clean up management — but also by intense controversies and mixed sporting results. The absence of major CAF or FIFA trophies under his presidency has been widely scrutinized.

This new term is therefore a vote of confidence for a long-term project. Samuel Eto’o is thus given the charge of guiding Cameroonian football to success, with the imperative to transform the rebuilt foundations into resounding achievements on the continental and global stage.

The Celebration: 126 Years of FC Barcelona Pride

While the Cameroonian icon receives this mandate of sporting sovereignty, his club of heart celebrates a monumental anniversary. The Futbol Club Barcelona marks its 126th founding anniversary, established on November 29, 1899.

“Més que un club”: A Historical Citadel

Eto’o’s destiny is intrinsically linked to Barça, where he reached the pinnacle and won major trophies. This day is an opportunity to remember that the Blaugrana club, born from the initiative of the Swiss Hans Gamper, has become, beyond its honours, a true standard-bearer of Catalan identity, a symbol of resistance and pride. The slogan “Més que un club” continues to resonate, certifying that the Catalan institution is more than just a football machine.

The Day’s Gift: A Hard-Fought Victory and the Top Spot!

To cap off this historic anniversary, the first team made sure to offer victory to their supporters in the Camp Nou fortress. FC Barcelona won against Deportivo Alavés with a solid score of 3 to 1 following a match rich in twists and turns.

From the 6th minute, the Blaugrana took the lead thanks to an early goal from Lamine Yamal. Following a cross from Raphinha that sliced through the defence, the young prodigy, positioned at the far post, sent a powerful left-footed strike that was unstoppable.

Barça then extended their lead in the 26th minute, when Dani Olmo capitalized on a fine action. Served by Raphinha over the top of the defence, Olmo struck the ball first-time from the penalty spot, hitting the mark perfectly.

Finally, in stoppage time (90’+4), Dani Olmo definitively sealed the victory. Finishing a rapid counter-attack led by Lamine Yamal, Olmo won his one-on-one duel with the goalkeeper to score the 3-1 insurance goal.

This crucial victory allows the Blaugrana to provisionally take the lead in the La Liga standings, securing a two-point advantage over their competitors.

A successful birthday celebration! Provisional leaders with a 2-point lead. #BarçaAlavés.
