Cameroon’s U-20 Women’s team were 4-2 winners against Millonarios Fútbol Club in a friendly game played on Monday as part of preparations for the 2024 U-20 Women’s World Cup to start this weekend in Colombia.
Camilla Daha, scorer in the 1-1 draw against Venezuela last week got her name on the score sheet, alongside Naomi Ndjoah Leslie Eto, Camilla Daha, Nina Soufiya Ngueleu and Achta Toko Njoya.
In the last warm-up game before the start of the tournament, coach Hassan Balla Abdoussalami picked his best team and they showed no mercy on the Colombian top-flight outfit.
The Colombian top-flight outfit open scores barely minutes after kick-off but FAP forward Eto leveled before Daha scored for the second game running to make it 2-1.
Former PSG forward Nina Soufiya made it three for Cameroon but the Colombians reduced the deficit deep into the second segment of the contest.
Getafe’s Njoya made sure the result was positive when she scored to make it 4-2 in the end and secure another victory.
The win maintains the team’s unbeaten run under coach Hassan and keeps the team upbeat for their maiden appearance at the FIFA world cup ahead of the start of the tournament this weekend in Colombia.
Speaking after the game, Hassan expressed his satisfaction;
“I am satisfied because we have finished this acclimatization camp without an injury case. I am particularly satisfied with the performance of the girls today, especially upfront. We have a few days to make final adjustments and we will be good to go,” coach Hassan told FECAFOOT’s media team after the game.
Cameroon that released its tournament squad of 21 players on Monday will make its World Cup debut.
Cameroon will open their competition against Mexico on August 31 before facing hosts Colombia on September 3 and wrap up group stage commitment with a clash against Australia three days later.
The FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Colombia 2024 will take place between 31 August to 22 September and is the first edition to feature 24 teams. This expansion made room for the entry of new nations, including Cameroon.
