Lekie Filles of Yaoundé have become the first Cameroonian club to score five goals in a single women’s CAF Champions League preliminary round match in the Union of Central African Football Federation (UNIFFAC) playoffs, courtesy to goals from Ernestine Heutchou, Tiwa Lys, Adrienne Mekuko plus substitutes Raissa Nnanga and Yvana Makana Yakana.

The club reach the new heights this Monday following their 5-0 thumping of Equatorial Guinea champions, Atletico Malabo in their first outing of the competition.

Stephane Ndzana’s girls serve the hundreds of fans at the Stade de Martyrs in Kinshasa with some beautiful stuffs, as they displayed their attacking poweress with goals from five scorers in a near perfect introduction.

The 4pm kick-off just an hour after TP Mazembe Ladies had hit CSM Diable Noirs for seven didn’t disappoint in an afternoon fans were thrilled with 12 goals altogether.

Heutchou, who was recently transferred from Eclair of Sa’a following her great goal scoring season continued her fine form by firing the 2023 Cameroon champions ahead after 17 minutes.

Midfielder Tiwa who narrowly-missed out of Cameroon’s final squad for the 2024 Women’s U-20 FIFA World Cup made it 2-0 in the 27th minute of the game before Adrienne Mekuko scored the third to ensure the lead was more comfortable at the break.

The second segment was a little more even, as Atletico Malabo organized better until the late on when Lekie added two goals through substitutes Raissa Nnanga and Yvana Makana Yakana to ensure the complete the five-star demolition.

2023 Guinness Super League player of the season, Fatima Kone who recently returned from a short spell in France also had a few minutes under her belt.

The perfect start of the competition for Lekie who break Awa Filles’ 3-0 Cameroon record margin of a win set in 2022 and hints on the potentials of the club that recently won the 2024 cup of Cameroon.

Lekie will catch their breath before returning to the Stade de Martyrs in two days time to test the reactions of the Diable Noirs side that the Mazembe Ladies made light work of.

The other fixture of the day two will see hosts Mazembe confront Atletico Malabo and in the final round of matches later this week, the 2022 UNIFFAC champions from DR Congo will face Lekie Filles FC in what is already shaping up to be the title decider.

The champions of the Central African zonal tournament will represent the region in the continental showpiece later this year at a venue to be decided by CAF.
