Cameroonian defender Enzo Boyomo scored a 94th minute equaliser to win a point for Osasuna and extend RCD Mallorca’s torrid run to six games without victory (D1, L5), after sharing the points in the draw at the Mallorca Son Moix Stadium.

Mallorca came into the match without a win this year following five consecutive losses in all competitions. Yet on the other hand, Osasuna were travelling to Mallorca where they had won just once in their last 15 visits (D6, L8). In a half lacking real attacking quality, it was the two defences who deserved all the plaudits at the pause, with the game goalless going into the break.

The best opportunity of the opening 45 minutes fell to Flavien Boyomo, but after a corner kick was whipped into the box, the Osasuna centre-back showed a lack of attacking instinct as he failed to turn the ball into the net from a few yards out, instead guiding it off-target. At the other end, the defender did his job in preventing Mallorca from scoring when Muriqi broke through on goal, only to be denied when Boyomo showed incredible pace to recover and make a last-ditch tackle.

Mallorca came out for the second half with renewed intent and almost broke the deadlock within five minutes of the restart after Sergi Darder picked out Muriqi in the box, but the striker smashed the side netting. Osasuna offered very little going forward in the second period until the 78th minute when Moi Gómez pounced on a loose ball in the box but blazed his shot high and wide. The home side eventually made the visitors pay for that miss as Muriqi finally got his goal on 81 minutes after he was fouled in the box, dusted himself off, and slotted the resulting spot-kick away.

Just as it looked like Mallorca were going to claim their first victory in over 50 days, Osasuna equalised deep into stoppage time out of nowhere. After failing to steer the ball on target earlier in the game, Boyomo stumbled onto a rebound to inadvertently knock the ball past Dominik Greif, claiming a share of the spoils. The draw puts a dent in Mallorca’s unlikely European aspirations, while Osasuna remains unbeaten in four league games (W1, D3), each level on points in mid table.
