Côte D’Ivoire’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) winning coach Emerse Faé has named a five-man back room staff with whom he will collaborate with during his tenure at the helm of the reigning continental champions.
The appointees made public this weekend by the former Reading and FC Nantes midfielder includes high-rated Moroccan fitness coach Samir Anba with whom he played together at OGC during their days as professional footballers.
Anba who helped Morocco’s Women’s Football team to the final of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (AWCON) on home soil two years ago and propelled his country to the 2023 U-23 AFCON success on home soil is expected to add to the top minds also picked by coach Faé.
Felix Kouadio who was Côte D’Ivoire’s fitness coach during the AFCON will focus on his fitness coach job at ASEC Memosas.
Trusted assistants Guy Demel, Alain Gouamene plus goalkeeper trainer Gerard Gnanhouan with whom he won the AFCON on home soil just under two months ago are retained alongside French expert Jeremy Antonio to serve Video Analyst.
“There’s Guy Demel who is going to be my assistant, Alain Gouamené too, while the goalkeeper trainer role will be occupied by Gérard Gnanhouan. Moroccan Samir Anba, will be the fitness coach and Jeremy Antonio will serve as my Video Analyst,” Faé told the FIF communications department.
The new Elephants’ staff led by Faé is expected to hit the ground running in the 2026 FIFA World Cup and 2025 AFCON qualifiers so as to ensure the presence of the African champions in both events.
